The OPIA would like to invite members and non-members to a meeting of like minded investors to an exciting free Saturday afternoon meeting. We will have a market update with what is going on around central Otago (speaker TBC), Tenancy Law update by OPIA president Kathryn Seque including RTA amendments, healthy homes and RTA reform. We will also have Mitre 10 mega attending to show you products that can help you comply with the new healthy homes requirements with ease. Afternoon tea will be supplied but you must register online.

OPIA - Queenstown Meeting - MBIE Seminar - Renting and You
Central Otago Meetings

Seminars about renting will be held in selected locations across New Zealand in 2017.

The aim of the seminars is to inform and educate landlords, renters and community groups about the recent changes to the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), and to provide tips and information about how to make sure properties are compliant with the law.

Speaking at the seminars will be representatives from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) Tenancy Services, the Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority (EECA), the Ministry of Justice (Tenancy Tribunal) and the New Zealand Property Investors’ Federation.

Topics include:

What you need to know about the 2016 changes to the RTA, including smoke alarms and insulation requirements
An update on the upcoming key provisions of the RTA Amendment Bill (i.e. methamphetamine contamination, tenant liability for damage and unlawful residential premises)
The Tenancy Compliance and Investigation team
Tenancy Services’ dispute resolution and bond processes and services
The benefits of joining a Property Investor Association
Tea and coffee will be provided on arrival. Each seminar is approximately 2 hours, including time for questions. There is no charge for the seminars, but places are limited so you MUST register.

Come along to the Golden Gate Lodge - hear from General Manager Glen Christiansen about their major commercial redevelopment project. Jordana Whyte from the Cosy Homes project wants to make sure everyone in Central Otago lives in a warm and healthy home. Chris Helm from Ellis Fibre will explain the new insulation regulations for rental properties and give you information on the option made locally - Technobond a polyester fibre product. Milton Sperring (OPIA Member) will talk about his property investing experiences and other passions.
