CANCELLED Monthly Coffee Chat Group - February 2022

Come along to our monthly coffee club. You can pop along have a coffee or some lunch and chat with like-minded investors. President- Kathryn Seque is hosting and will have other OPIA executive members there as well so feel free to come along. You must register as if no one is registered to come it won't be held. The Plaza Cafe also has a play area for children so feel free to bring along your children.

OCR increased to 1%

The Monetary Policy Committee today increased the Official Cash Rate (OCR) to 1 percent.

Dunedin Market Update Special

The first meeting of the year and we are having a Dunedin market update special. We have four separate speakers coming to give us updates on the Dunedin residential market, Dunedin commercial market, healthy homes changes and updates to heating tool and then a mortgage market update. Due to what is happening with COVID we will require all members to be vaccinated and show their vaccination pass at the door of the meeting. Fixing the Rental Crisis

New Zealand has a rental property crisis. There are not enough rental properties, which has seen the Social Housing Register explode to over 25,000 and $1m of Government funds a day spent on motels to house tenants with emergency housing needs. First Homeowners have been prioritised over tenants and rental providers have been discouraged from providing rental accommodation. The system has been broken and needs to be improved to increase the supply of rental properties, lower the cost and price of rental properties and provide more stable rentals properties.
