  • Facing the Tenancy Tribunal- Part Two
    Come and hear Janet Ashcroft on August 14 a year on from the last time she spoke last August. Janet was a Tenancy Tribunal Adjudicator and currently deals in all areas of property law. Landlords often lose their case by the way they complete their initial application. Come along and learn the skills to win. This will be an interactive session lots of discussion and a bit of work. Do you have any questions or things you thing you might need brushing up on? Let us know by emailing kathyseque@gmail.com and Janet will work them in. Will be great to send through to us now rather than not having enough time for all the questions on the night.

    PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE TO THE 1ST AUG. Come along to a social event at 6.30pm at Cobb and Co to mark the first half of a wonderful year with the OPIA we will be having a sit down dinner with a two course set menu with gluten free options (if you are vegan please let the office know before the night as they are going to make something special for you). Must register and pay before the 27th July. $36 each for two courses (main and desert) and there will be a cash bar. We are in the private room so come along and have a great time catching up with other investors. After our wonderful Christmas dinner last year it will be a great evening again.

  • OPIA - Queenstown Meeting - MBIE Seminar - Renting and You
    Seminars about renting will be held in selected locations across New Zealand in 2017. The aim of the seminars is to inform and educate landlords, renters and community groups about the recent changes to the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), and to provide tips and information about how to make sure properties are compliant with the law. Speaking at the seminars will be representatives from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) Tenancy Services, the Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority (EECA), the Ministry of Justice (Tenancy Tribunal) and the New Zealand Property Investors’ Federation. Topics include: What you need to know about the 2016 changes to the RTA, including smoke alarms and insulation requirements An update on the upcoming key provisions of the RTA Amendment Bill (i.e. methamphetamine contamination, tenant liability for damage and unlawful residential premises) The Tenancy Compliance and Investigation team Tenancy Services’ dispute resolution and bond processes and services The benefits of joining a Property Investor Association Tea and coffee will be provided on arrival. Each seminar is approximately 2 hours, including time for questions.
