Martin Hastie has been a serving senior fire fighter for 11 years, and is an Acting Station Officer. Michael Harrison is the Risk Management Officer and Fire Investigator for Dunedin and surrounding areas. They will be sharing a wealth of knowledge and welcome a Q&A session. Topics for discussion include: fire safety education, planning an escape route, where to put smoke alarms, keeping occupants safe. On July 1st new smoke alarm regulations come into force for all landlords. It is thought likely that 10 year smoke alarms will be mandatory and either an alarm will be required in all bedrooms or within 3 meters of each bedroom. Come and hear the latest news.
It has been an interesting semester already for Deputy Proctor Andrew Ferguson - too much has been going on. Andrew will give a brief overview of the role of the Proctors Office and how they can work with landlords. The discussion will include current flatting issues. For example tenant selection, some landlords / property managers are letting current tenants select their replacements for the following year, other selection initiations include drink off competitions and there are others.....
