Thanks to a game well-played, Dunedin took out the top spot to win its place as New Zealand’s first Gigatown and is now well on the way to becoming the most connected town in the Southern hemisphere.
Josh Jenkins and Dunedin City Council Chief Executive Officer, Dr Sue Bidrose visited Chattanooga in Tennessee, US to see for themselves how gigabit broadband has transformed the American city. They were both blown away by the experience.
#GigatownDunedin was run by Josh Jenkins, a Project Manager at Digital Office, along with many volunteers in the community. The Digital Office is a non-profit organisation that receives council funding to develop projects that help our communities be more efficient by integrating technology into their lives.
Josh has agreed to come along and speak with landlords about the benefits to be gained by our city and region through winning the Gigatown competition.
